I really miss flying. I miss the destinations, too, of course, but I’ve always loved just getting on a plane.
Ever since I was a kid I’ve had my head glued to the window. Cheesy as they are, here are a few of my favorite window seat photos.
Looking back at the tiny airport on Vieques.
A purple lake somewhere over Nevada or Utah—any guesses? I haven’t figured it out yet.
Just off the coast of Dakar, landing for a refuel on the way to Johannesburg.
Taking off from Rio. Here are the northern suburbs. This is one of those times where I wish I could have the window seat on both the left and right of the plane. just the other side would have been Corcovado, the Sugar Loaf, and Ipanema.
Oh, hi, volcano.
Parallel takeoffs at SFO.
Taking off just before the fog sets in the Columbian mountain town of Manizales.
Land of 10,000 Lakes.
Lake Powell on the border of Arizona and Utah.
A small raincloud over the Caribbean.
The mountainous desert in Oaxaca.
Old San Juan jutting out into the sea.
Snowcapped mountain in the distance taking off in Cappadocia.
When we were kids, we were down there in the sand at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado.
As much as travel is the best, it is always feels great to land back in NYC.

I love these! And can totally relate to the head glued to the window! :)
Kate – ahh, I only flew into Point once, for NowHere. Every other time was the long flat field called Highway 29!
Awe… the last one made me say that out loud. Always the most sparkly landing. I now have a soft spot for clouded sky landings into great expanse of green hills. But landing on the flat flat field just outside of Stevens Point will always be my favourite.
